Motivation letter, too much anger, too much hope.

Sóc la Tuixén Benet; alumna de tercer de Coreografia i tècniques d’interpretació del Conservatori Superior de Dansa a l’Institut del Teatre de Barcelona. Estic interessada en treballar amb el coreògraf Alexander Ekman per la meva assignatura de ‘Assistència de direcció coreogràfica’.

Alexander Ekman va educar-se a la Royal Swedish Ballet School a Stockholm. Ha ballat amb Europa Danse, Royal Swedish Ballet, Netherlands Dans Theater 2 i Cullberg Ballet. Ha coreografiat per Europa Danse, Cullberg Ballet, NDT 2 i IT-Dansa. I tot això amb només 24 anys. El fet que hagi treballat amb la IT-Dansa em sembla remarcable en aquest punt doncs això significa que l’Institut del Teatre ja ha establert relacions administratives i oficials amb el coreògraf que jo he escollit.

La meva activitat amb Alexander Ekman consistiria en veure tot el seu procés de creació i ser la seva auxiliar per tot allò que em necessiti, ja siguin qüestions pràctiques o teòriques, físiques o psíquiques, parlant o callant. Per l’estil de dansa que li he vist fer a Alexander Ekman i les seves relacions estètiques crec que els dos ens entendrem molt bé i tindrem moltes coses en comú. Em sembla que és de la persona de qui més puc aprendre ara mateix perque no hi ha cap altre coreògraf amb el treball del qual m’hagi sentit tant identificada com amb el d’Alexander Ekman, per bo o per dolent.

La motivació per treballar amb ell és, doncs, molt forta. Em sembla que una es pot prendre l’assignatura de ‘Assistència a la direcció’ de dues formes. La primera és buscar algú de la casa que no li interessi tampoc massa però amb qui sigui fàcil fer un conveni i treure-se-la de sobre. L’altra és buscar un coreògraf amb qui realment t’agradaria treballar i intentar que el conveni sigui possible. I jo desitjo molt que el conveni amb Ekman sigui possible doncs se’m brinda una oportunitat fantàstica per anar a treballar amb algú amb qui mai podria treballar si no fos per aquesta assignatura.

La meva intenció de treball amb el coreògraf és per una peça que ell prepararà amb el Ballet Junior de Ginebra, per tant la ciutat on treballaríem seria aquesta; Ginebra, Suïssa.No vull demanar cap tipus de beca ni per viatges ni per allotjament ni per res. Totes les despeses correran al meu compte sense que ningú m’hagi de pagar res. Els períodes d’assaig són del 2 al 13 de febrer i del 9 al 19 de març (dia en que es farà l’estrena). Per mi és perfecte doncs precisament del 2 al 13 de febrer són les setmanes verdes en què tenim vacances a l’institut.

L’activitat que realitzaríem serà la creació d’un nou espectacle amb el Ballet Junior de Ginebra. Alexander Ekman és freelance (com si diguéssim autònom, això vol dir que ell mateix és la seva pròpia empresa, això vol dir que amb qui s’hauria de firmar l’acord és directament amb el coreògraf), treballa sota el seu nom i té assegurança a Suècia. Cal destacar que l’Institut del Teatre ja ha comptat amb ell en diverses ocasions com a coreògraf per la IT-dansa, així que és un contacte que pot resultar relativament fàcil a l’entitat. No es tracta d’una persona externa que mai ha tingut relació amb l’Institut i Barcelona, sinó que es tracta d’algú amb qui ja s’han realitzat contractes.

...and the future looks clearer, don't worry about the timing, everything seems more exciting once you've stopped waiting for it. If you had answered right away it would have been too easy and I would have lost my excitement. It's always good to suffer a little bit, otherwise it gets boring, don't you think?

Now that Obama is president and the future looks clearer, I didn't understand very well what your projects were about. I did understand I could come to Geneva in February with the Ballet Junior de Geneve which turns out right to me. Also, you said you were doing a project with Mats Ek, that'd be nice too! Anyway, now that Obama is president...

And the future looks clearer, are you gonna be around Europe in the next month so that I can come and meet you in person, or is there any phone I can call you to or is there any way we can arrange a meeting on a chat (facebook or gmail) so that we can talk at real time?

Now that the future looks clearer and Obama is president, I've arranged a meeting with the teacher that coaches my 'direction assistance' lesson next friday, so I will know better what is it exactly that I have to do, and have more clearer thoughts about how long and how come.

Now that Obama is president and the future looks clearer, sorry if my mail is weird, not that I care TOO much about Obama being president, but it's nice. And after a week of raining, sun is shining again in Barcelona, so the day DOES look clearer (and with that the future does as well). Also, it's difficult making jokes in a language that is not my actual mother tongue (I'll get better, I'm sure, because the future will be clearer) and I do believe I am much more fun than what I actually am.

So sorry for taking soooooo long to get back to you!

I am so flattered that you are interested in my work.
Always nice to get some feedback on the work.

Hmmm.... I am trying to think for with project you could come!

I have a few different things happening in the near future.

I will make a piece for Stockholm 59, a company consisting from the principals and soloists of the Royal Swedish Ballet. In this project The working hours are a little bit funny!
Work only night time...

Then I will also work with Ballet Junior de Geneve, and then a collaboration together with Mats Ek.

The project in Geneva is a little bit faster, and might be more Interesting...
Will rehearse on it in February and then the premiere is in March.
Perhaps you could come to Geneva for one or two weeks in February?... (depending on your availability...)
